• Oil Level and Quality: Check if the hydraulic oil level in the tank is too low. Observe if the oil is black (high-temperature deterioration), white (water emulsification), or contains air bubbles (air intake).
• Suction Filter: If the suction filter is clogged, it will cause the pump to "suck air," emitting a harsh whistling sound accompanied by vibration.
• Sealing: Check the oil inlet hose between the oil tank and the hydraulic pump for damage, aging, or loose clamps.
• Measure the pilot pump pressure: The pilot pressure of an excavator should typically be around $3.5 MPa - $4.0 MPa. If the pilot pressure is too low, even if the main pump is working properly, the regulator will not receive the signal to change the displacement, resulting in slow machine operation.
• Pressure setting: Often, the pump pressure cannot reach the required level because the main relief valve is faulty or the pressure setting is too low, causing the high-pressure oil to flow back to the tank before reaching the actuator. Try adjusting the relief valve to see if the main system pressure changes. If adjusting the relief valve has no effect, the problem is likely with the valve, not the pump.
